Burnt Coast Night! with MNGWA Malagrupa and Robin Layne Band
A friday night trifecta of live Latin, African and Balkan music - with puppetry, dance, and the mysterious Slavic celebration of Kupala weaving light through the darkness.
A small Trubaci-style band that plays classic folk music of the Balkans, with a nod to post-modern pop and ska. Formed at the end of 2016, the band features some of the top Balkan Brass players in Canada.
Rooted in the Afro-Latin soul of cumbia music, MNGWA (pronounced Ming-wah) blends elements of psych rock, salsa, reggae, and hip hop into the polyrhythmic pot.
With 8 members from across North America and Europe, the Vancouver ensemble draws inspiration from many worlds. All are invited to join the sonic frenzy!
